Unlocking Northern Cyprus: innovations in destination management for enhanced tourism experiences

Abstract

The tourist sector is currently one of those that has paved the way in the application of intelligent communication and information technology. Intelligent information systems can significantly contribute to the continued growth of the tourist business, particularly virtual tourism, given the recent rise in the popularity of travel abroad. Thus, the purpose of this study is to examine how the smartification of tourism sites contributes to the expansion of electronic tourism in Northern Cyprus. Qualitative research methods are employed in this study. The participants of this research are the management employees working in several high-end hotels in Northern Cyprus. The study analysed the perceptions of managers using semi-structured interviews. The conclusions provide a framework for managers, entrepreneurs and tourism authorities to use intelligent information services as recommendations for promoting the growth of organisations in the travel and tourism sector.
